Shelley Van Wyk
I grew up in the Midwest on a hobby farm with a 2 acre garden and learned to make, grow and can everything I could thanks to my awesome parents. In my early 20s I found myself in New York about to start a graduate art program. To help make ends meet, I took a job in food and beverage for a boutique hotel group. 9 years into climbing the hospitality industry ladder, I found myself planning my wedding and loving every second of it. I decided to return to my original path.
I’ve always wanted to start my own small business offering graphic design, packaging and creating all things homemade. Our wedding became my EllaMade test run. Along the wedding journey I considered which aspects did I love being a part of and how could I help others love them just as much?
When it comes down to it, my goal for EllaMade is to share the things I love with others. I love crafting, antiquing, succulents, old things, new things, farm goods, homemade goods, baking, designing, cooking, painting, crocheting, cold iced tea, my yellow tabby cat named Paxton who’s shaved like a lion and a lot more. While I can’t share all of these things, I can share some of them and these are available through EllaMade.
I’d also like to share a little of the Midwest. Growing up in Oklahoma, Kansas and Wisconsin I have a background much different than most of the wonderful people I’ve met here in Santa Barbara. I’d like to share a little of what it was like growing up on the farm. EllaMade helps make that happen.
